Volumes Vases

For the new collection of five vases, Studio Piet Boon played with the different thicknesses and heights that he always saw reappearing in commercial vases. By experimenting with them, volumes of varying heights were created at the top. These volumes have an important function: they keep the flowers in the right place. “One volume for a flower, one volume for Ikebana, one volume for a large bouquet and one volume for a small or large plant,” explains Piet Boon. For the earthy color palette of the VASE collection, Boon was inspired by the paintings of Italian artist Giorgio Morandi. “Following in the footsteps of BASE tableware, the VASE collection is designed to mix and match different sizes and colors,” explains Boon. “These vases don’t need many flowers, by the way. A few branches or some nice big flowers will do.”
